Simplify

I appreciate things that can make life more simple. Between work, graduate school, and doing things on the side like this brand, there is a lot I have to remember. Here is an app I've been using lately to organize and remember things. I've got lots of ideas for Fictionfield, but I don't always have a notepad with me, though I do often, when a fresh idea strikes. Enter Thinglist, a wonderfully designed easy to use app by Kyle Bragger and Elepath.

Thinglist isn't just for ideas, but anything that you want to remember. It's only 99 cents for iPhone right now and I can't recommend it enough.

Knowledge and Taste

It takes just the right amount of knowledge and taste to make something that is great. Since the get go, that is what I have been working towards with Fictionfield. I still have a long way to go, but I'm improving. Developing better taste and gaining knowledge. From communicating my ideas between myself and those who I work with to make what's in my head come alive, to the deciding what to do next. I think I'm getting better.

I'm a believer in slow and steady wins the race. It's been a year since I released the first Fictionfield shirts and I have learned a lot in that time. It was over a year from the initial logo design to releasing something. I'm not in a hurry. I may only produce a few items in the next year, but that doesn't mean I've given up or lost interest. It just means I'm making sure what I release is well done and hopefully great.

Inspiration.

Who are the people that inspire me the most? Simply put, the makers. The people that make things happen by actually doing. Recently, I read an awesome blog post from the guys over at United Pixelworkers. Really great information in there from a group of guys that are making it happen. Another place I find inspiration is from friends. David Smith, who has lent his talents to help make Fictionfield happen in the past, has released two gems for designers. His talent and work ethic are both incredible and inspirational.

People like these are a never ending source of inspiration. I can only hope and more importantly work to take Fictionfield to their level one day.

If you are an international customer, this is definitely the best time to grab something. The United States Postal Service upped international shipping charges as the end of January. This is especially hard on small businesses who don't make hardly anything in the first place. The internet has allowed us a lot of opportunity to be able to share our creations with people around the world. I hate to lose business due to the USPS not being ran properly and increasing there fees. I hope that the shipping cost will not scare international customers away. I will do everything I can to ensure that the product is worth the shipping!
