One of my favorite bands ever, The Forecast, are releasing their new album on April 17th.  This band has always hit home with me.  I grew up listening to them and seeing them play, as they are a local band to me.  Click here to listen to a track called "Like a Habit" off the new album.

I haven't seen the season premiere of season 5 of Mad Men yet, but the latest edition of Newsweek showcasing the award-winning drama is awesome.  From the cover to the back page, it is all designed in a Mad Men era style. Yes, that includes the adverstisements.  Go pick it up, it's a great read as well.

Amazon bought Kiva, an robotic fullfilment company, this past week.  I worked a fullment job at a factory and it was pretty unfullfilling, no pun intended.  Anyways, this was one of the more interesting videos I have seen lately.

Something that I have wanted since I was a child is a cabin in the woods.  I think part of it is the idea of having my own hideout somewhere away from civilization.  This could also be related to reading lots of Boxcar Children books as a kid.  Anyways, check out Free Cabin Porn (SFW) for pages and pages of beautiful, secluded cabins.  One day, I shall have my own.

A big thanks to Original Makers Club and Tribe for sending me the awesome shirt you see above.  This shirt was a collaboration between the two, both which are Louisville-based.  Original Makers Club is a society and guide of high-end and unique, local businesses.  They are doing some really great things in Louisville, as well as Brooklyn, Cincinnati, and Lexington.  Tribe is a relatively new brand that has come out of the gate swinging.  Definitely check them out for some rad shirts and products.  If you're on Twitter give the brains behind the brand, Jeremy Richie a follow.

New jam by my cousin, Wilson.  Fair warning, this one is NSFW.  Check out the rest over on his bandcamp.  Fun fact: Wilson, myself, and a few others all went on a Route 66 tour from Illinois down to Texas together for My Bicycle Emergency back in summer 2006.  Hardly anything was set in stone and we ended up sleeping in a Wal-Mart parking lot a couple of nights, but it was a blast.

Discovered a cool little store/restaurant that had an old fashioned soda fountain and ice cream. The place also has movie nights and live entertainment on the weekends. All this in a town with only about a hundred people.

Rest in peace, Mr. Jobs.  Whether you like Apple or not, this guy truly changed the world.  My dad bought our family the first Macintosh computer with cd-rom back in the early 90s for $2800.  Though we didn’t have the money at all and it had to be bought on a credit card, my dad knew that it would help us kids, all 12 and under at the time, with school and in the future.  Steve Jobs and Apple were responsible for that computer that sparked my interest and 17 years later has me working the job that I currently am.  For that, I am forever grateful.  Steve Jobs, along with Bill Gates, truly changed the way we live our lives today.  Thank you and you will be missed.

Citizen's new EP Young States was released for download over on their Bandcamp page today.  I highly recommend grabbing the new ep for only $4.

Less than 24 hours ago an innocent man was executed.  I first became aware of the Troy Davis case about 8 years ago when it was featured on an episode of 48 hours.  The case drew the attention of celebrities and world leaders.  All of whom called for his release.  However, last night the state of Georgia decided to go through with an unjust execution.  This all happens months after Casey Anothy walked free from her case involving the murder of her daughter.  These and many other cases are examples of a broke justice system.  The first step in repairing the system is doing away with the death penalty.  It is better for a murderer to spend their life behind bars than to take the life of one innocent person.

The Horrible Crowes - Elsie

Crush by The Horrible Crowes

For those of you who may not know who The Horrible Crowes are, it is a side project from Brian Fallon of The Gaslight Anthem.  Elsie, released September 6th, is an album that fans of The Gaslight Anthem should still greatly enjoy.  It is a rock album at heart, but slightly slowed down.  Fallon's timeless voice touches on an array of topics ranging from religion to violence to love, all the while giving great imagery.  Do yourself a favor and pick up the album now on iTunes or your local record store.
